The Man By:Rebecca Brown Cleveland, Ohio To family and friends you were known as the man. Everybody I know Is your #1 fan. They have everything made with your name on it. Every shirt, glass, hat, and poster. And everything else right down to a coaster. But when that tragic day came. It was something no one expected. But we all knew you were being protective. Your life you gave for your son and your friend. Your spirit and memory will never end.
April 29, 2001 You've only been gone from us For just a little while. We think about you often With a tear and then a smile. Although you won't be with us On this your special day. ~~~~COLORS~~~~ Black was the color of our beloved #3 Our HERO would drive it His goal victory... Red is the colors our eyes swelled as we cried When we heard the news Our hero had died... White is the color of that guiding light You followed it willingly It doesn't feel right... Black was the color we felt on that day Neil reached down from HEAVEN and said C'mon buddy the fishin's good today... Red was the color of her passoinate kiss How did she know How much you'd be missed... White is the color of the wings you wear now Through our thoughts we wander and still question how... Black was the color we wore on the day That our Hearts were broken 'cause you'd gone away... Red is the color we'll watch from now on Your son is the legacy through him you'll drive on... White is your light that shines from the sky our Hero we'll miss you and kiss you goodbye... ~Jenifer Larsen~~ Milford Utah~
So Fast Comes The End By: Annonymous The Intimidator. The Man In Black. You could have come out okay, Just waited one more lap. You slammed the wall, And cracked your neck, Now millions and I, Can pay their respect. Nobody's sure why, You left us in a daze, Said: "It's a shame that his season, Only lasted this one race." To Dale Earnhardt... The greatest there ever was, #3 - even better than number one, Gone but not forgotton, February 2001. So many watched in shock, A spectacular crash it was, too, You went out in front of all of them, Everyone that always loved you. And I ask what kind of man, Wouldn't want to leave like that. Isn't it ironic? Last turn, last lap...last breath. Lost your chances to cheat death, A great man gone yet again, Your NASCAR season and your life, So fast comes the end. ***Dedicated to Dale Earnhardt, Senior. You are missed. You were a great man and a hero. Prayers go out to your family. #3 forever.***
The Loss of a Legend --In Memory of Dale Earnhardt A loss of a legend is so hard to understand Why would He take such a strong, young man? This legend set records & broke them, along with the rules He made many respect him and many to lose their cool They say, "You either loved him or hated him", but I know that's a lie Even though he infuriated us from time to time We all loved and honored the black, red, & white And now we will mourn him after his last race last night Irony surrounds only the great ones, you may've observed Who would have guessed the irony that would occur? The place he conquered in nineteen ninety eight Would be the place that God would seal his fate By "great ones" I don't mean just a great driver I mean a great father, a husband, and a lifetime survivor He has left a legacy that will live in us forever That is why we must honor him as one family - together If you didn't know him You can learn a lot from his name He EARNed all he achieved and his HEART made racing A phenomenon, not a game When God calls us up to the heavens in the sky Look for him there with a twinkle in his eye He'll have that # 3 placed upon his back Racing with the angels - the leader of the pack. Dale Earnhardt Sr., The Great Man in black Integrity and courage he did not lack 7 Championships, tied with Petty the King We're now reminded that life is such a precious thing So much was accomplished, but so soon it would end no one could imagine what was around the next bend Through the school of hard knocks many lessons were learned but all yanked away through the 3rd and 4th turn Taken from us so quick just 49 years old God be with the family and God rest his soul Mathew Creasy
A Poem in Memory of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Miss me - But Let GoWhen I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want not rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember, the love that we once shared, Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone, It's all a part of the master's plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me - but let me go

A Great Loss A man died today, not a man but a legend Dale was the hero that would not stop being a hero Born with gasoline in his veins and rubber under his nails The man knew how to drive from conception In a time when hero's let us down A time when fame leads to egos and mistrust There is always one who defies the common law Never did he falter, never did he turn down the road of deceit A father, a husband, a friend, and an idol His life filled with happiness and glory Dale Earnhardt was NASCAR and NASCAR is Dale Earnhardt So lets bow our heads and thank the Great Spirit above Thank the Great Spirit for letting us be graced with Dale's presence The man may be gone, but his spirit and his legend will be forever We Will Miss YouDale Earnhardt1951-2001 Paul SansoneFebruary 18,2001

Rest in Peace In memory of Dale Earnhardt #3 There's a lot of sorrow A lot of pain inside Ever since I got the news... All I've done is cry. I know I'm not alone in this Dale Earnhardt was the man. For many years we've cheered him on Now we no longer can. My daddy started the tradition many years ago We'd load up in the station wagon In May - October we would go. I've been a diehard Earnhardt fan For 19 years I guess. And loved every minute watching Now God's put me to the test. I lost my dad 3 years ago It's never been the same. But I continued going... And pretended there's no change. Nothing was the same there With my daddy gone... But my brothers kept persisting And I continued Nascars' song. I felt I had to go now I was Dales' biggest fan. But now our Dale's in Heaven So I just don't think I can. Dale's in Heaven now with them - Davey, Alan, Adam too, And I know my dad's in turn one Just like he used to do. Daddy watch the races now And please look down at me... Tell Dale I miss him and I love him... And God bless the number 3. Debra Keller Barringer

Passing The Torch the dawn broke on a perfect day to race anticipationand excitement filled the place the stands jammed with fans from near and far the buzz was the long winter and dodges new car visions of talldega burned into their brain today was gonna be a 3 wide 36 car train passing was plentiful this DAYTONA was among the best no single driver or car could out run the rest how great is this ,they've run all day in a pack till less than 30 to go,18 cars littered the track all walked away,30 minutes of clean-up,we're back to green watching the greatest Daytona we've ever seen swappin the lead, tradin paint all the way if it goes like this to the end, what a great day now 1 to go mikey leads,jr's drafting, #3 cars covering the rear fighting off any who dare come near coming into turn 3 the wolves make a final run BIG DADDY'S blocking like any dad would've done a touch of fenders,THE MAN IN BLACK is in the wall as his car settltes in the grass, his boys take it all now when i'm old tellin this tale on my front porch this was DAYTONA 2001 we all wacthed the INTIMIDATOR pass the torch
The Daytona Tragedy As we sat to watch the race. We all wondered who'd get 1st place. 25 laps were left to go. An 18-car pile up would stop the show. After all the drivers were found okay. The race started on its way. The battle between Waltrip and Jr. was fine. But, who'd get 1st at the finish line. It was Waltrip with the win. But, Earnhardt Sr the wall he went in. Earnhardt Sr he'd be okay We knew that is what they'd say. The 7 O'clock news would change all that. For the bad news we all sat. The NASCAR President came to say Dale Earnhardt Sr had passed away. NASCAR fans in shock we'd all be. For we all loved Dale Sr you see. This can't happen to the NASCAR team. This has to be a bad dream. In the morning papers would be the news That a NASCAR hero we would lose. We loved the Number 3 you see. In racing heaven is were he'll be.. By Lisa Rodier
God was looking around his garden and saw an empty space, He looked down on daytona and saw Dale racing great, He could tell that Dale was tired and needed some rest, So he snet down the angel to lead Dale to Heaven, It broke our hearts to lose you, but we knew you were in a better place, So God take care of Dale because he was loved my many, The world has lost a FATHER, A SON, AND A DAD. The "man in black", you know the one, has raced his final race. He went out having so much fun, a smile wrapped 'round his face. Joy, he brought to his sport, excitement for the fans. I'd say he was a hero of sorts, he really was "da man". He was rought and tough behind the wheel, enjoyed swapping paint, that one more spot he'd try to steal, never claimed to be a saint. He knew the risk, and lived for it, 'cause life's too short for fear- he lost, he won, he was a hit. He made us love to cheer (or jeer). He took the race to a higher plane, the limits he would push. The popularity he would change for Winston and for Busch. He made us learn to love a sport where "cars go 'round and 'round". Whether the track be long or short, that's where we'd be found. And, off the track, a heart of gold would stop for any fan- he had respect for young and old, for the woman or the man. The racing world has lost a friend, no truer can you find- he lived like that up to the end in his soul and his mind. I dreamed I saw the "man in black", a legend in his time, he raced his car around a track and took us for a ride. And what a ride it truly was as decades slipped away, he wondered, "Why all this fuss? The car ran great today!" Christy Moody02/19/01
Chasing the Horses By: Starlitfire As the dust settles, A boy not quite yet a man, Stands on a dirt track, watching his father Ride with the wind. The horses ran through him. They were in his blood, carrying Him faster and faster through The shadows of the ones who Had gone before. "Come on son, let's race," says the father. The motor rumbles, the green flag drops, And the horses run. He faces his destiny for the first time, No fear, just the horses running. The horses carried the father to an Eternal track, where he could ride with The wind all the time. The man, still a boy at heart, for many years, Chased the horses of long ago, Hearing the voice of his father In the wind saying, "Come on son, let's race. And the horses ran. The horses carried him through Checkered flags and trophies abound. And with it, the love of a nation Fell at his feet. But with the sweet came the bitter. Pain, Heartache and Loss of others That the man loved, carried to the eternal Track by the horses. But always a constant, The wind would say, "Come on son, let's race. And the horses run. Today, the shadows of long ago Were not so far ahead. The horses that coursed through his veins, ran faster than ever before. The motor started, the green flag dropped, And the horses ran like they never had before. Twisting with the track, faster. Leading the herd into a frenzy. Danger averted, too close. The man's own son just ahead. Almost there, almost there Keep going, son. The horses in the man retreated. Must go back to protect. Then came a tap. The horses were losing control and The man went to the wall, for his son. He faced his destiny for the last time, still no fear. The wind blew and the man's father Stood beside him once more, "Dale, it's time to let your own son chase the horses. Come on son, let's race." And the horses ran.
